Tankaar IconHello Friends,

I welcome you all to Tankaar. This is the first formal blog I am writing for the site."Tankaar" is surely a strange name for a website and web application. If you are not sure what it means I have another blog explaining the root of the word and why we chose it. "We" of course means me and Amit who were stupid enough to daydream this web product and put our everything into it, finally making it a reality.

It took us more than half a year to make our childish idea turn into a tangible web product. We started with a sole aim of developing a different game which people can play with their remote friends and hence providing web users with experience which they can look forward to. Believe me with our little knowledge and no external help it was real big challenge for us. But of course support of our parents played a big role in making "Tankaar" what it is today and what it will become in future. I am saying "future" because we are neither short of ideas nor enthusiasm, so certainly "Tankaar" aims to grow. All we need is constant support of our users and grace of God. Our goal is to remain free to the end user. We believe that strength of a web product lies in its users. Charging end users for our services or products was never a part of our business model.

Even if you are not interested in computer games, just give "Tankaar" a try. We hope you may find something different in it. If still not then don't worry we will have something for you too very soon. Till then just keep using "Tankaar Messenger".

So what are you waiting for browse the site, go for downloads and join us in adventure named "Tankaar".

This looks like Desi Pocket

This looks like Desi Pocket Tanks. The Astras are all desi-weapons which do the same stuff as their equivalents in Pocket Tanks. Shouldnt you at least acknowledge what you are copying or atleast mention your "inspiration" when you launch this game.

Hats off to all artillery games

Yes its an Indian version but not just of Pocket Tanks, but of all artillery games which have come prior to this. So I would like to thank not just Michael Welch, developer of Pocket Tanks but also developers of all those games whom Michael has copied. :). Because we are inspired by all of them and their games.

Actually artillery games have a long history and Pocket Tanks is one of the most recent in this hierarchy. Now Tankaar falls in the same hierarchy.
* Worms
* Hogs of War
* Gorillas
* Scorched 3D
* Death Tank
* Tank Wars
* Scorched Tanks
* Destruct
* Pocket Tanks
* Mortar Mayhem
* Hedgewars
* Wormux
If you see all these games, you will realize that Michael has "copied" more from these ancestral games than we have copied from Pocket Tanks. :)
But I am myself a great fan of Michael Welch and according to me he didn't "copy". He was just inspired and so were we. Moreover, idea of most artillery games (including pocket tanks) till now was destructible terrain whereas Tankaar involves interaction of weapons (or astras) with environment. That makes it quite different. But you need to play game at least 5-10 times before you realize this difference. Not only you will see the difference but you will realize how involved strategy can be in Tankaar.
So hats off to all artillery games and their developers. :)
